William H. Hunt, 88, of River Road, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Penn Highlands Hospital, Huntingdon.
Born Oct. 9, 1932 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Russell and Erma (Confer) Hunt. His wife, Shirley M. (Sellers) Hunt, whom he married March 16, 1957, survives.
Also surviving are: six children, Russell W. Hunt and wife Flettah of Lewistown, Daniel E. Hunt and wife Kathy of Lewistown, Nancy K. Hunt-Foster of Mattawana, Joseph L. Hunt and wife Karen of Lewistown, David S. Hunt of McVeytown, Simon P. Hunt and companion Jewel of McVeytown; two half sisters, Esther M. Walters of Lewistown, Betty Pandel of Yeagertown; a half brother, Fern N. Steele Jr. and wife Debra of Granville; and 12 grandchildren and their families.
Preceding him in death were three brothers and two sisters.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict, and later served in the Army Reserve.
Early in life he was employed as a mechanic, and later retired from New Holland in Belleville.
He was a member of the Granville Brethren in Christ Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and church treasurer.
An avid railroad enthusiast, he also enjoyed tinkering with cars and spending time outdoors.
A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown. Please follow current CDC guidelines.
Private interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, with Pastor Kenneth Grove officiating.
