Ronald L. "Herbie" Moist, 75, of Chestnut Ridge Road, McVeytown, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born December 23, 1948 in Ryde, he was a son of the late Robert Roy Moist Sr. and Irene (Kauffman) Moist, and a stepson of the late George Goss. His wife, Roberta L. "Bobbi" (Royer) Moist, whom he married June 1, 1982, preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2018.
He is survived by his three daughters, Melissa Goss and husband David, Amy Bailey and husband Michael, Nevada Hostetler, all of McVeytown; five grandchildren, Jessica Chappell and husband Jordan, Zachary Goss, Emily Karn, Dylan Goss, Hunter Bailey; two great grandchildren, Mavrik and Harper Chappell; brother Robert Roy Moist Jr. of Gettysburg; and sister Barbara Kulp of Juniper, Florida.
He was a graduate of Captain Jack High School in Mt. Union, a proud U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church.
He retired from Standard Steel in 2013 and along with his wife, Roberta, managed the Locust Campground for many years.
Herbie loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was also an avid hunter and NASCAR fan.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at the McVeytown Presbyterian Church, 5 North Queen St., with Pastor Kurtis Swisher officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown.
