Richard K. Heister, 73, of Mattawana, passed away on January 3, 2024 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1950 in Mattawana, he was a son of the late Charles William and Marian (Allison) Heister.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Robert and Darl Heister.
Surviving are: two sons, John R. Heister and wife Crystal of Milroy, Chad R. Cornelius of Reedsville; four brothers, Ronald Heister and wife Bernadette of McVeytown, Larry Heister and wife Velma of Granville, Darwin Heister and wife Patricia of McVeytown, Carl Heister of Camp Hill; a sister, Jane Cramer and husband Mark of McAlisterville; two grandchildren, Jasmine and Austin Cornelius; and a great grandson, Reid Cornelius.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and retired from Overhead Door Corp. in Lewistown where he worked in shipping and receiving for over 25 years.
Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Kenneth Grove officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
A viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
