Patricia E. (Stringer) Freed

   Patricia E. Freed, 74, formerly of McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Valley View Haven in Belleville.

   Born May 24, 1950 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Violet C. (Thompson) Stringer.  Her husband, John F. Freed Jr., whom she married in 1983, survives.

   Also surviving are:  three sons, Scott Stringer and wife Susan of McVeytown, Stacey Williams of Lewistown, Jonathon Freed of McVeytown; five stepchildren, Dawn Michaels of Lewistown, Denise Grove and husband Danny of Mifflintown, James Freed of Lewistown, John Freed III and wife Jen of South Carolina, Shawn Freed of Belleville; a brother, Bill Stringer and wife Faith of McVeytown; 26 grandchildren and their families.

   Preceding her in death were a stepson, Roy Freed; and two sisters, Phyllis Harmon and Linda Hockenberry.

   A homemaker, she also had worked as a nursing home cook.

   She attended Windy Hill Baptist Church.

   Patricia was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family gatherings.  Early in life she enjoyed playing basketball for Rothrock High School.

   A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Kurtis Swisher officiating.

   Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

   Memorial contributions may be made to Centre Union Church, 200 Greenwood Ave., Yeagertown, PA  17099.
