Nelson E. Forsythe, 92, of Lockport Road, Lewistown, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Brookline Manor in Mifflintown.
Born June 11, 1930 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Emory M. and Alice R. (Mertz) Forsythe. His wife, Doris L. (Heath) Forsythe, whom he married Nov. 9, 1951, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Nicola A. Hood and husband Richard of Gibsonia; two grandchildren, Dr. Steven Hood and wife Jennifer, Lori Barbieri and husband Brian; four great grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, Anthony, and Nicolena.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Glenn Forsythe, Sheldon Forsythe, and Marian Kerr.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served from 1950 to 1954.
He was employed as a master gunsmith for Flaig's of Millville, PA.
Nelson was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood carving, and gunsmithing.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor William Kuhn officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
