Mary L. (McCartney) Kauffman

   Mary L. Kauffman, 82, of Mt. Union, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at UPMC-Altoona Hospital.

   Born Dec. 28, 1941 in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Martha (Brenneman) McCartney Sr.  Her husband, Samuel J. Kauffman Jr., whom she married Oct. 25, 1961, preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2018.

   Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Wilbur McCartney Jr., Robert McCartney, Carl McCartney, Ron McCartney; and three grandchildren, Shannon Ruby, Roger Kennedy Jr., and Leslie Eckley.

   Surviving are:  five children, Ronald Ruby of Huntingdon, Robyn Lantz of Huntingdon, Carolyn Snook and husband Dan of Lewistown, Glenda Kauffman of Lewistown, D. Jeannie McCartle and husband Charles of Lewistown; seven siblings, Donald McCartney of Mt. Union, Jack McCartney and wife Daphne of Mt. Union, Nancy Knable of Newton Hamilton, Connie Forshey and husband Dean of Shirleysburg,Helen Heffner of Huntingdon, Daniel McCartney and wife Susie of Mill Creek, Susan Martin of Mt. Union; 10 grandchildren and their families.

   Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that enjoyed baking for her family.

   A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown.  Two of her granddaughters, Jerrica and Jessica, will be the speakers.  Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.

   A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
