Mary I. Bankert, 90, of Red Shale Lane, Lewistown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at her home.
Born July 28, 1934 in Pine Glen, she was a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Margaret (Renninger) Kauffman Sr. Her husband, Bradley A. Bankert, whom she married Oct. 12, 1957, survives.
Also surviving are: four sons, Michael R. and wife Lori of Lewistown, Patrick N. and wife Susan of Sellersville, John M. and wife Tammy of Sellersville, James B. and wife Michelle of Perkiomanville; six siblings, Donald and wife Sandra of Lewistown, Alice of Maine, Anita of Lewistown, John of Lewistown, James and wife Barbara of Lewistown, Timothy of Lewistown; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were five siblings, Jean, Samuel Jr., Edward, William, and Deborah Molison.
Mary was an Avon representative for many years as well as a talented seamstress for wedding gowns and prom dresses.
She was a member of the Pine Glen Alliance Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. Early in life she attended the Mattawana Mennonite Church and was still involved in their sewing circle.
Mary also enjoyed collecting tea pots.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Mattawana with Pastor Chad Oberholtzer officiating.
