Leon Ranck Obituary

Leon P. Ranck, 87, of McVeytown, passed away suddenly on Friday July 12, 2024 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born June 12, 1937 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Jesse and Elizabeth Ranck.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Lynne Ranck, and by his sisters, Anna Margaret Heckman-Byler, Arlene Clark, and his brother Glenn Ranck.

Leon is survived by his one son, Douglas Ranck and wife Ursula, of Bethlehem, PA and granddaughters Stephanie Cruz and husband Carlos, and Jamie Ranck all of Alexandria, Virginia.  In addition, he is survived by siblings, Eugene Ranck and wife Audrey, of Pine Glen, Robert Ranck and wife Rita, of Mechanicsburg and sister-in-law JoAnn Ranck of McVeytown.

He was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian church.

Leon was employed by AT&T and took early retirement after 33 years of service. He knew no strangers and was happiest when talking with people. He was loyal to his friendships and invested in those relationships until his passing. But most of all, Leon loved his family, especially his granddaughters. He was actively involved in their lives; from attending grandparent’s day in elementary school, sports events in high school, to college move ins and lunches, Leon prioritized making memories with his family. In between summer vacations and holidays, he was in frequent contact through phone calls and cards. He was always so happy to tell everyone how proud he was that his granddaughters kept in touch with him. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A private memorial service will take place at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Leon’s memory can be made to: McVeytown Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 323, McVeytown, PA 17051.
