John G. Prough Obituary

   John G. "Jack" Prough, 92, of Ryde, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at his home.
   Born Oct. 25, 1929 in Altoona, he was a son of the late John L. and Alice May (Soyster) Prough.  His wife, Charlotte C. (Ronk) Prough, whom he married Feb. 23, 1952, preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2017.
   Also preceding him in death were his three brothers, Donald, William, and George; and his three sisters, Mary Hillard, Dorothy Snyder, and Marjorie Benson.
   Surviving are:  five children, Mary Louise Yoder and husband Galen, James L. Prough and wife Cynthia, Carol Ann Young and husband Edward, Connie Sue Prough, Steven G. Prough and wife Christine, all of McVeytown; three grandsons, Cory Yoder, Nathan Prough and wife Blair, Adam Young; and two great grandsons, Axel and Ace Prough.
   He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
   Formerly employed at U.S. Silica in McVeytown and Mapleton, he retired in !995 with 42 and 1/2 years service.  Following retirement he farmed for Keith and Donna Ranck of McVeytown.
   Jack was a member of the Ryde United Methodist Church and attended the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren.  He also served with the Ryde Cemetery Association for 50 years.
   He enjoyed farming, his farmette and animals, as well as butchering hogs every Thanksgiving.  Jack also enjoyed visits with his friends, and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Attending his grandson's and great grandson's sporting events was important to him also.
   Following the loss of Charlotte, he was lovingly cared for at home by his daughter, Connie Sue.
   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, 61 Pine Glen Rd., Lewistown, with Pastor Randy Fiske officiating.  Interment will be in Ryde Cemetery.
   A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.
