John S. Murphy Jr., 64, of Jones Lane, McVeytown, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born May 6, 1958 in Abington, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late John S. and Virginia (Dobbs) Murphy Sr. His wife, Debora A. (Fitzgerald) Murphy, whom he married Aug. 10, 1990, survives.
Also surviving are: two sons, John S. Murphy III of McVeytown; Jeffrey M. Murphy and wife Karley of Lewistown; two sisters, Sandy Silvestri and husband Albert of Fleetwood, Debbie Fata and husband Lou of Roslyn; and a brother, Peter Murphy and wife Laura of Warminster.
Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews including his Goddaughter, whom he affectionately called Messy Jessie.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Janice Malone-Elwell.
He was formerly employed as a truck driver for Eastern Industries in Milroy.
John enjoyed word puzzles, reading truck books, and watching wildlife. Most of all he cherished time with his family and his dog, Brewster.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at the Ryde United Methodist Church with Pastor Faith Anderson officiating.
