Jane E. Young

  Jane E. Young, 78, of Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 6, 2023 at William Penn Healthcare in Lewistown.
   Born May 23, 1944 in Ryde, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Helen L. (Taylor) Houck, and a biological daughter of the late John Miller.  Her husband, Rodney A. Young, whom she married Feb. 17, 1962, survives.
   Also surviving are:  five children, Julie A. Hartley and husband Gary of State College, Jefferey D. Young, Clinton T. Young, Dwayne S. Young, Melissa D. Stine and husband Matthew, all of McVeytown; four siblings, Ruth A. Harshbarger and husband Ted of McVeytown, Cathy J. Baumgardner of Hanover, Mary E. Rogers and companion Michael Tate of Milroy, Thomas W. Houck of Lewistown; nine grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
   Preceding her in death was a step-sister, Helen L. Ray; and one great grandson.
   A homemaker, she also had worked as a personal care aide for the Area Agency on Aging and as a preschool aide.
   Early in life she attended the Lewistown Assembly of God and last attended the Way Bible Church, McVeytown.
   Jane enjoyed singing in church, baking, and caring for her family.
   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Kirk Nagel officiating.  Interment will be in Atkinson Mills U.M. Cemetery.
   A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023 at the funeral home.
