Howard Hoover Obituary


   Howard S. Hoover, 85, of Church Street, Newton Hamilton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 30, 2021.
   Born Feb. 1, 1936, in Newton Hamilton, he was the son of the late Charles B. and Martha LaRue (Meyers) Hoover. 
   He is survived by his five children, Judy D. Harshbarger and husband, Ronald, of McVeytown, Kathleen A. Klouser and husband, Clint, of Elizabethville, Jeffrey H. Hoover and wife, Ginger, of McVeytown, Janet S. Lancaster and husband, John, of New Paris, and Kristene H. Smith and husband, Rodney, of Sewickley; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great- granddaughter.
   Preceding him in death were his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley I. Hoover; two siblings, Herbert Hoover and Betty Miller Hicks, and two step brothers, Dale Hoover and Edward Hoover.
   Howard, worked as a laborer for Ford New Holland for 38 years before retiring at age 55.  He enjoyed being in his garage woodworking and restoring tractors.   He also enjoyed gardening and tinkering on clocks.  He served his country in the Army Reserves and the National Guard. 
   His children were the center of his world along with his pup dog, Lizzie. 
   A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Brian Myfelt officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Newton Hamilton.
   A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
