Gerald R. "Gerry" Hepler, 83, of Water Street, McVeytown, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born May 6, 1937 in Valley View, Schuykill County, he was a son of the late Ray Tobias and Mary Mae (Wagner) Hepler. His wife, Gail E. (Wray) Hepler, whom he married June 3, 1967, survives.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Gayleen N. Warrier and husband Sreekumar of Wilmington, DE, Ginger E. Nichols of Sandy Hook, CT; a brother, Dean Hepler and wife Carol of Milroy; a sister, Joan Swyers of Reedsville; and two grandchildren, Katherine Nichols and Arjun Warrier.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Clark Hepler.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was stationed in Germany during the Cold War.
Gerald served as Mifflin County treasurer for 32 years, and also was a driver for Merrill Wray Busing in McVeytown.
A member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, he served as a choir member and on numerous church committees.
Gerry was a longtime member of the McVeytown Lions Club and volunteered with local 4-H groups, including the Senior Extension.
He was a former member of the Siglerville Band and the Waynesburg Guard.
He loved camping with his family and enjoyed square dancing.
A memorial service is being planned for a future date.
