Gerald E. Elder, 84, of Cider Lane, Lewistown, went to be with the Lord and his daughter Jennifer at 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at his home.
Born Dec. 28, 1936 in Burnham, he was a son of the late William Banks and Annette Grace (Riden) Elder. His wife, Judy A. (Hunley) Elder, whom he married Aug. 7, 1965, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Kimberly A. Clark of Lewistown; a son-in-law, Michael A.R. Corson of Burnham; five grandchildren, Spencer Corson, Parker Clark, Hayden Clark, Sophia Clark, and Sadie Stryker.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Jennifer A. Elder on April 21, 2019; three brothers, William Kenneth Elder, James Robert Elder, Ronald Dunn Elder; and a sister, Janice Annette Rittner.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served from 1955 to 1957.
He was employed in the chemical lab of Standard Steel for 37 years.
He was a member of the Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church in Highland Park, the Chief Logan Lions Club in Burnham, the Lewistown Kiwanis, the Lewistown Lodge # 203 F&AM, and the Valley of Harrisburg Consistory. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
Jerry enjoyed gardening and camping, but his greatest devotion was to his family.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
