Gary Stimely Sr. Obituary

   Gary G. Stimely Sr., 78, of McVeytown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at his home.

   Born Sept. 23, 1946, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late John Jay and Thelma L. (Clark) Stimely Sr.  His wife, Nedra L. (Buchta) Stimely, whom he married Sept. 23, 1967, survives.

   Also surviving are:  a son, Gary G. Stimely Jr. and wife Andrea of McClure; a daughter, Sherry K. McKay and husband Mark of Lewistown; two brothers, John Jay Stimely Jr. and wife Connie of Mt. Union, Thomas L. Stimely and wife Sheree of McVeytown; seven grandchildren, Phillip Stimely and wife Alyssa, Kierna Miller and husband Damon, Blaise Roush, Mackenzie Roush, Tiahna Pollock and husband Joshua, Colton Roush, Takira Stimely; five great grandchildren, Liam, Ethan, Alyvia, Oliver, and Jaxtyn.

   He was a 1966 graduate of the Williamsport Area Community College diesel mechanic program.

   A Sergeant First Class in the Army National Guard, he served from 1966 to 1996 at the Lewistown armory, first as a diesel mechanic and later as office personnel.

   Gary was president of the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League for 41 years and also volunteered driving veterans to doctor appointments and as a driver and dispatcher for the McVeytown Ambulance Association.

   An avid hunter and fisherman, he most loved spending time with his growing family.

   A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at Armagh Memorial Field, 8620 East Back Mountain Road, Milroy, PA  17063, with Rev. Jeffrey Fisher officiating.

   Memorial contributions may be made to McVeytown Babe Ruth, c/o Dennis Yetter, 33 Chestnut Ridge Rd., McVeytown, PA  17051.
