Esther M. (Henry) Sechrist

   Esther M. Sechrist, 89, of Cutman Drive, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at her home.

   Born March 7, 1934 in Alfarata, she was a daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary A. (Fye) Henry.  Her husband, Ralph W. "Henry" Sechrist, whom she married July 2, 1954, preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2011.

   Also preceding her in death were six siblings, Violet Frye, Beatrice Steele, Rella Clinger, Charles "Russ" Henry, Gerald Henry, and Herbert Henry.

   Surviving are:  three children, Robert P. Sechrist and wife Gail of Indiana, Michael A. Sechrist and wife Marjorie of Mill Hall, Tangeline F. Sechrist of McVeytown; two sisters-in-law, Carol Henry, Ardith Henry; four grandchildren, Emma Sechrist and husband John Lundberg, Jessica LaForme and husband Levi, Katherine Sechrist, Brian M. Sechrist; two step grandchildren, Tracy Roberts, Cory Roberts; five great grandchildren, Colin Lamey, Carlee Wynn, Logan Lundberg, Piper Lundberg, Owen Lundberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   A homemaker, she also had worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block and herself.

   She was a member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren where she had served as a deacon, treasurer, and chair of the executive board.  Esther also enjoyed crocheting for the church's prayer shawl ministry.

   She was an avid reader and a fan of Jeopardy.

   Esther was known for her hats, fancy socks, and radiant smile.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren affectionately called her "Gigi.  She adored them all.

   A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, 6712 Ferguson Valley Rd., McVeytown, with Pastors Craig and Kate Gandy officiating.  Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

   A viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church.
