Ellen E. (Kirk) Fitzgerald

   Ellen E. Fitzgerald, 83, formerly of McClure, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the home of her daughter, Charlotte, surrounded by loved ones.

   Born Aug. 1, 1942, in Warminster, she was a daughter of the late James Kirk Sr. and the late Amanda (Frankenfield) Kirk Raab.  Her husband, Charles J. Fitzgerald Sr., whom she married Sept. 17, 1960, preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2025.

   Also preceding her in death was a  son-in-law, John Murphy; a great grandson, Brock Kerr; and three siblings, James Kirk Jr., Delores Dear, and Betty Raab.

   Surviving are:  five children, Debora Murphy of McVeytown, Charlotte Gerding and husband Todd of Willsboro, NY, Timothy Fitzgerald and wife Hazel of McVeytown, Tracy Schreiner and Husband Ray of Lewistown, Charles Fitzgerald Jr. and wife Heather of McClure; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.

   A homemaker, she also worked as a nurse's aide early in life.

   Ellen enjoyed gardening, taking care of her farm animals, watching wrestling, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.

   A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2025 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown.  Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

   A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home...
