Edna G. (Hartley) Byers

   Edna G. Byers, 86, of Kansas Road, McVeytown, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Ohesson Manor in Lewistown.

   Born Feb. 18, 1935 in McVeytown, she was a daughter of the late George D. and Ann F. (Knepp) Hartley.  Her husband, Dale J. Byers, whom she married June 16, 1990, survives.

   She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ellerian S. Grove; three brothers, Carl, Ray, and Howard Hartley; and a sister, Betty Fleck.

   Surviving are:  six children, Betty Ann Albright and husband Ron, Daniel R. Grove, Larry L. Grove and companion Mindy, all of Lewistown, Grace I. Lucci and husband Mark of Milroy, Ronald N. Grove of California, Ricky A. Grove of Burnham; two stepchildren, Loraine Drake and husband Dwayne, Foxine Byers, both of Mt. Union; two siblings, Edward N. Hartley and wife Kathleen of Lewistown, Elsie Ann Watson and husband Dale of Niagra, NC; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren.

   Edna was a homemaker and a member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, the Shining Star Sunday School Class, and the Lewistown Moose Family Center.

   A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she enjoyed music, singing, dancing, and most of all time spent with her family.

   Early in life she travelled the world as a military wife.

   A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Kate Gandy officiating.  Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

   A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
