Doris Mattern Obituary
Doris S. Mattern, 91, of Little Brick Road, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at her home.
Born March 7, 1931 in Vineyard, she was a daughter of the late Jay M. and Lois A. (Sunderland) Stine. Her husband, Harold D. Mattern, preceded her in death on June 20, 2011.
Also preceding her in death was a son-in-law, Denton Varner; and four siblings, Ira Stine, Mildred Mattern, Marie Moorhead, and Roy Stine.
Surviving are: a son, Jeffrey J. Mattern and wife Pam of Mattawana; a daughter, Teena L. Varner of McVeytown; four grandsons, Travis Mattern and wife Kylee, Jeremy Mattern and wife Sarah, Jason Mattern and wife Carlee, Jay Varner and wife Danielle; five great grandchildren, Haddie, Harvey, Hope, Holly, and Gus Mattern.
She was formerly employed as a supervisor at Bell Telephone, and also had worked at the Lewistown Giant as well as on the family farm.
Doris was a founding member of the Pine Glen Alliance Church.
She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and she spent her life helping other people.
Private services will be held with Pastor Daniel Stegeman officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
