David I. White, 82, of Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1938 in McVeytown, he was a son of the late Mason R. and Edna (Kane) White. His wife, Helen A. (Dow) White, whom he married April 2, 1965, survives.
Also surviving are: a son, David E. White of Lewistown; two sisters, Mary Mumper of McVeytown, Susan Heckman and husband Charles of McVeytown; a grandson, Christopher J. White; a great grandson, Logan Thomas White; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families, including a special great nephew, Mason R. White.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Kay Chesney; and a brother, William White.
On his 19th birthday he left the family farm to work for AT&T as a lineman. At the age of 52, after 33 years of service, he retired from AT&T as a construction supervisor and returned to the family farm that he loved.
He was a member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, and a former member of the Elks Club in Lewistown.
Dave enjoyed caring for his animals and was an avid hunter, taking many trips to British Columbia, Newfoundland, and the north woods of Maine for 30 years.
Most of all he loved his family, and cherished the time he spent with them.
A public graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at Spring Run Cemetery, 6712 Ferguson Valley Rd., McVeytown, with Pastors Craig and Kate Gandy officiating.
