Darl Pecht Obituary

   Darl L. "Pete" Pecht, 92, of Farm View Lane, Lewistown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his home.

   Born Feb. 15, 1931 in McVeytown, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Hazel P. (Kauffman) Pecht.  His wife, Velma A. (Grassmyer) Pecht, whom he married April 9, 1955, preceded him in death on April 4, 2023.

   Also preceding him in death were three brothers, William "Bill" Pecht, Wilbur "Dick" Pecht, and Ronald "Snip" Pecht.

   Surviving are:  five children, Jeffrey A. Pecht and wife Dana of McVeytown, Debra J. Mianulli of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Brian J. Pecht and companion Michele Orwig of Lewistown, Lisa A. Sunderland and companion Paul Crater of Mattawana, D. Brent Pecht and wife Connie of Lewistown; a brother, Robert L. "Pork" Pecht and wife Patricia of McVeytown; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and a long time special part of his family, Monique Cartwright of Manhattan, New York.

   A Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War in both Japan and Korea.

   He was employed as a truckdriver for several local companies as well as himself before retiring from PennDOT.

   Pete was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and taking numerous trips to Canada with family and friends.

   He had fond memories of climbing Mt. Fuji while stationed in Japan, and his family trip touring Italy and Sicily.

   The family is grateful for Marci, Jill, Gracie, and Sharon, who provided care for Pete at his home.

   A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date.
