Brian S. Heckman, 54, of Little Kansas Road, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Born June 18, 1968 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Charles E. Heckman Sr. and the late Anna Margaret (Ranck) Heckman Byler. His best friend and soulmate, Andrea L. (Crozier) Heckman, whom he married July 7, 2018, survives.
Also surviving are: six children, Kirsten N. DeArment and fiance Nick Bailey of McVeytown, Megan N. Rodriguez and husband Anthony of Spring Mills, Staff Sergeant Lauren N. Slack and husband Staff Sergeant Brady Slack of New Oxford, Rachel O. Heckman of Laramie, Wyoming, Trent A. Heckman of McVeytown, Kynzlee D. Yoder of McVeytown; a brother, Charles E. Heckman Jr. and wife Susan of McVeytown; and two grandchildren, Rhett Owen Bailey and Payton May Slack.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jonathan R. Byler; and a sister, Linda K. Boyer.
He was a Desert Shield/Storm veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1988 to 1992. He later served in the Marine Corps Reserves for 10 years.
Employed as a corrections officer for 23 years, he was currently a guard at SCI Benner.
Brian enjoyed golfing with his son Trent, riding his Harley with his wife Andrea, and spending time on their houseboat on Lake Raystown. Most of all he cherished time with his family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Jeannine Leister officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022 at the funeral home.
