Betty Maxwell Obituary
Betty Ann Maxwell, 75, of U.S. Highway 522 South, McVeytown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 20, 2024 at her home.
Born July 30, 1949 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Jacqueline M. (Irvin) Barth of McVeytown and the late William Barth. Her husband, Russell Lee Maxwell, whom she married Nov. 12, 1969 survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Michael T. Maxwell and wife Dana of Lewistown; a daughter, Michele L. Tomlinson and husband Shane of Milroy; two grandsons, Tyler T. Vernet and wife Madison, Easton L. Vernet and wife Chloe; a great grandson on the way, Weston; two sisters, Ginger S. Sunderland and husband Rick of McVeytown, Nancy L. Mumper and companion Scott Sunderland of McVeytown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Vickie Maxwell of Mattawana, Larry and Peggy Maxwell of McVeytown; and several nieces and nephews.
She retired from the Mifflin County School District after more than 30 years as an administrative assistant.
Betty Ann was a member of the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and treasurer of the Work and Win Sunday School Class. She also served on the flower committee and volunteered serving the church's community meals.
She served as a poll worker for Oliver Township elections and was a member of the Mifflin County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees as well as the Mifflin County Historical Society.
Betty enjoyed playing in two card clubs and travelled extensively with family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024 at the Pine Glen Church of the Brethren with Pastor Randy Fiske officiating. Interment will be in Pine Glen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
