Betty A. (Gill) Bailey

   Betty A. Bailey, 88, of McVeytown, passed away at her home on Monday, June 19, 2023.

   Born Dec. 24, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Essie Gill.  Her husband, Daniel R. Bailey, whom she married Aug. 2, 1953, preceded her in death on May 18, 2000.

   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Calvin, Warren, Richard, Elwood, and Eugene.

   Surviving are: children, Vickie Romig (Robert), Patricia Rhodes (Wilbur), Rodney (Holly), Karen, Jeffrey(Tammy), Connie; a sister, Evelyn Chilcote (Jerry); grandsons, Luke Bailey, Cody Rhodes, Derek Romig, Patrick Carlino IV, William Wadsworth; granddaughter Kylie Bard (Matthew) and their children Joshua, Abigail, Ashley, Jonathan, Nathaniel; granddaughter Cassie Molnar (Matthew) and their children, Braxton, Dawson, Cameron; and many nieces and nephews.

   Betty's family greatly loved her and will miss her so much.  Betty loved all of her family very much.  The grandchildren and great grandchildren have so many fond memories of their "Gram."  When Betty's grandsons were younger she enjoyed watching wrestling with them.

   Betty graduated from Captain Jack High School in 1952, and in her early years she was a switchboard operator at Lewistown Hospital.  Later she worked many years as a custodian for the Mifflin County School District before retiring early to care for her husband.

   Betty was a member of the McVeytown United Methodist Church.  She was also a longtime member of the McVeytown Fire Co. Auxiliary and enjoyed helping prepare the many meals that were served at the fire hall.

   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the McVeytown United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Bender officiating.  Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

   A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown.
