It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Ann H. Casner, 84, formerly of Lewistown, Pennsylvania, who passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Coastal Hospice at The Lake in Salisbury, Maryland.
Born on March 8, 1942, in McVeytown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John S. Hanawalt and Helen White Hanawalt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Casner, in 2008; her sister, Doris Hanawalt Notestine; and her brother,
James Hanawalt.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Elaine Casner Pauling and husband Paul, of Salisbury, Maryland; and her beloved grandchildren, Lori A. Pauling and Steven R. Pauling, also of Salisbury.
A graduate of Rothrock High School and Shippensburg University, Ann dedicated 40 years of service to the Mifflin County School District as a third-grade teacher at Strodes Mills Elementary School. She retired in 2003 after touching the lives of countless students throughout her distinguished career.
Ann attended Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and was a life member of both the Mifflin County Retirees Association and the Mifflin County Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, playing cards, reading, working on puzzles, and spending time with her cherished cat, Peanut.
All services will be private.
